About

What is Educational Talent Search Cedar Rapids?

Educational Talent Search Cedar Rapids (ETSCR) is a college preparatory program funded by the U.S. Department of Education.

The goal of ETSCR is to encourage participants to graduate from high school and to enroll in college. ETSCR participants are students who demonstrate potential for postsecondary education, but may be lacking resources and knowledge to prepare adequately.

Who Can Participate in Educational Talent Search Cedar Rapids?

In October 2021, UNI-CUE added Educational Talent Search Cedar Rapids to its TRiO programs. Like its Waterloo counterpart, which serves the Waterloo Community School District, ETSCR serves middle school and high school participants (grades 6th through 12th) in the Cedar Rapids Community School District.

In order to be eligible, participants must meet income requirements and be first-generation college-bound (meaning neither parent has received a bachelor's degree). Two-thirds of the program participants must meet these eligibility requirements.
