Programs & Services

In addition to STEM programming, UBMS exposes and prepares high school students to post-secondary education, supporting them in completing high school, enrolling in college and succeeding in their career goals.

The programming is broken into two components: academic year and summer.

Academic Year

During the academic year, students meet with their UBMS counselor at least twice a month. Additionally, students attend tutoring for four hours a week, with the option to participate in person after school or virtually in the evenings. Once a month, students will participate in a grade-specific meeting where they will dive deeper into academic, STEM, career, financial and other skills to help them succeed. Finally, students are provided hands-on career experiences through our Career Academy Program – providing students the opportunity to job shadow professionals in careers of interest to them.

Summer Academy

During the summer, UBMS hosts a six-week summer residential program. In the morning, students take prep classes that help them prepare for their upcoming school year – giving them a boost in confidence and skill when they take those classes the next year. In the afternoons and evenings, students participate in STEM programming, educational, cultural and recreational activities and field trips.

The summer residential program is a great way for students to experience what life is like in college, succeed in high school courses and have six weeks of FUN!
